Bristle / Support & security
Support & security
A small, independently maintained beta. Clear reports help make the next release better.
Get help or report a bug
Start with the getting-started guide and known limitations. For a reproducible problem, include your Bristle version, macOS version, chip type, what you expected, and the steps that reproduce it.
Suggest an improvement ↗ or email alexchasejones@icloud.com. There is no guaranteed response time.
GitHub issues are public. Remove credentials, customer information, and private endpoints from descriptions, screenshots, logs, and example collections. A minimal synthetic example is usually the most useful.
Security reports and IT review
Send suspected security issues privately to alexchasejones@icloud.com, with “Bristle security” in the subject. Include a description, affected version, and safe reproduction steps. Do not post exploit details or credentials in a public issue.
The IT review packet identifies the exact signed binaries, publisher, network behavior, local storage, execution model, verification evidence, and remaining limits.
The publisher is Alexander Jones; the app’s Developer ID is Alexander Jones (C6XWP3TQKJ). Apple notarization is an automated distribution check, not App Store review or an independent security audit. Your organization decides whether the app is approved for its devices.
Common installation questions
Which download should I choose?
Check Apple menu → About This Mac. Choose Apple Silicon for an M-series chip, or Intel Mac for an Intel processor.
macOS says the app is damaged or blocked.
Download again from the verified release and compare the checksum. If the message persists, report the exact text. Do not disable macOS security checks.
My old secrets or drafts are missing.
Do not delete or reset the old profile. Preserve a backup and contact support with the old/new app versions and the message shown by secure storage. Migration from an earlier unsigned Mac build has not been verified.
How do I update?
Updates are manual. Quit Bristle, download the next release, and replace the app in Applications. Back up your collection folders and private profile first.
About the project
