Bristle / Try the beta
Try the beta
Try one real workflow with a copy of your collection and test credentials. Start with 15 minutes, then use Bristle during your usual work for a week.
A 15-minute first session
- Install and launch. Download the correct build in your browser, copy it to Applications, and open it in Finder. Record your macOS version and chip, and any prompts or errors.
- Bring one collection. Import a small Postman export or OpenAPI spec, or use the sample. Review warnings before applying the import.
- Send a request. Inspect the response, then change a header using suggestions. Try inserting a variable by typing
{{. - Switch environments. Set up two test environments, switch between them, and confirm the effective environment and URL. Use a local secret reference for a disposable test token.
- Move between collections. Open several requests, keep one open, and switch collections. Check whether the working sets make sense.
- Close and recover. Make an unsaved edit, wait for “Draft saved locally,” close the view, and recover it from Drafts. Quit and reopen Bristle. Confirm the draft and saved request remain distinct.
- Save and verify. Save deliberately and check that the collection file changes. Keep a backup of your original import.
During the following week
- When did you switch back to Postman, and why?
- What took longer than expected or was hard to find?
- Did you ever lose track of the active environment, a changed request, or a draft?
- Did startup or memory use interrupt your work? Include the collection size and what was running.
- Which single improvement would make Bristle useful for your next work session?
Send useful feedback
Use the bug report for errors or improvement request for workflow friction. Email alexchasejones@icloud.com if the report should remain private.
Reports should include the app version, macOS version, architecture, expected result, actual result, and minimal reproduction steps. Synthetic request/response examples are preferable to production exports.
For the beta organizer
Invite 3–5 developers who already use an API client. Collect one first-session report and one week-end summary from each. Prioritize installation failures, data loss, environment mistakes, and repeatable workflow blockers before expanding the feature list. Do not treat missing responses as a successful evaluation.
